Description

PROJECT: An interactive instrument, created by stretching a single metal string between the ends of a strip of sheet metal. The instrument will be performed by the artist during set times and the audience will be invited to play the Metal Bow. This project is supported by the Czech Centre.

ABOUT: Martin Janicek studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, from 1991 to 1997. After graduating he worked as an assistant to professor M.Šejn in the conceptual department. Martin is a sound artist, musician, instrument maker and sculptor. He explores combinations of immaterial and simple forms, often with an interactive quality. Since the year 2000, Martin has been a member of the Mamapapa ngo, dedicated to site-specific and community projects. He has exhibited in Japan (Expo 2005), U.S.A. and Europe. Martin has collaborated with Tomáš Žižka, M. Zabelka, K.Liberovskaya, If Bwana, Phill Niblock , B.Pisek, Guy van Belle and many more. He lives and works in Prague, where he participated at important exhibitions and events related to the topic of sound art. http://www.m-janicek.eu
